Encountering Essence

Truth and vision dance along quietly,
partners in and under the
inspiration.
Compulsion and curiosity compel us
to create.
Each day brings new thoughts
and a movie's worth of images.
It's like trying to watch all three
rings
in a circus as it fractures and moves.
I fight so hard to find a simple part
of the beautiful kaleidoscope.
Art is note taking,
a shorthand capturing the essence of
the flow.
It's a fight to keep it in the curve
and not over explain.
Sometimes the fight becomes a war.
The creation floats on the note
taking.
And so few see.
Which is why I think I need a band,
or a gallery of yes sayers when
instead
I should keep dancing.
Which is why after the striving I
and even
You
so often find yourself in contempt
Of a creation hard fought for.
How you'll give it up
and only see much later that
It was willing to dance the whole
time.
